Principles
Privacy and data principles
These are the defaults every Useful Foundry product starts from. Individual products may state additional specifics, but none should contradict the principles below without a clear, disclosed reason.
- Local-first by default. Where a product can function without a server, it does — user data stays on the user's own device unless they deliberately export or share it.
- No telemetry by default. We don't silently collect usage analytics. If a product ever adds optional, disclosed analytics, it will be opt-in and clearly explained.
- No third-party trackers. No ad networks, no tracking pixels, no third-party analytics scripts embedded without the user's knowledge.
- Minimal data collection. We collect what's operationally necessary (e.g. an email for delivering a purchase) and nothing more.
- No dark patterns. No confusing consent flows, no pre-ticked boxes, no manufactured urgency to extract data or payment.
- Portable data. Where a product stores user data, the user should be able to export it in an open format.
This site itself
This portfolio site loads no external scripts, fonts, analytics or trackers. Normal page viewing serves only its own static files. Choosing a Payhip link leaves this site for Payhip; choosing an email link or submitting the enquiry form opens your own email app.
The enquiry form validates and structures your message locally in the browser. Useful Foundry receives nothing unless you review the prepared email and press Send in your email app.
The full Privacy Policy explains the company identity, email and order information, service providers, retention periods and your data-protection rights.
